CNN —Paul Pogba has been suspended from soccer for four years, it was announced Thursday, after testing positive for a banned substance in August 2023, according to Reuters. The Juventus star was provisionally suspended by Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (NADO Italia) in September last year. Following the provisional ban, NADO Italia said that testosterone, which can be used to increase athletic endurance, was detected in the midfielder’s system after Juventus beat Udinese 3-0. “I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me. CNN has reached out to Juventus and Pogba’s agency for comment.

CNN —France and Juventus star Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance, Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (NADO Italia) said. In a statement Monday, NADO Italia said that testosterone, which can be used to increase athletic endurance, was detected in the midfielder’s system. Juventus confirmed in a statement that Pogba had been provisionally suspended. Pogba’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, said in a statement: “We are waiting for the counter analysis and until then we cannot say anything.”“What is certain is that Paul Pogba never wanted to break the rules,” Pimenta added. In his prime, Pogba was one of the best midfielders in the world and was a key member of France’s World Cup-winning team in 2018.

Sept 11 (Reuters) - Juventus's France midfielder Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned substance, Italy's national anti-doping (NADO Italia) tribunal said on Monday. The test, performed after Juve's 3-0 Serie A season-opening victory at Udinese on Aug. 20, detected testosterone, a hormone that increases athletes' endurance. The tribunal said Pogba had violated anti-doping rules when they found the prohibited substance "non-endogenous testosterone metabolites", adding that the results were "consistent with the exogenous origin of the target compounds". The 30-year-old Pogba was an unused substitute in the win at Udinese. If found guilty of doping, Pogba could be suspended for between two and four years.
